THE SMITH HOUSE

For this project we took the already existing Smith House in Connecticut and came up with ideas on how we can extrude forms from this project

NARATIVE

The Smith house is very much a lodge. It’s for families who enjoy going out to the shore if they would want to stay there. They have a large “family” and they are also having people staying there, so a lot of bedrooms is a must. Fishing is a big part of the millers so they took into their Smith House. They love to host dinner parties, so it would be good to add more of a dining space and some bedrooms for families who come from far away to stay. Some families have young children so a play area would also be good to have.

Importance

  1. Master Bedroom

PROTOTYPE

For my prototype I extruded out Richard Meiers structural concept and his circulation concept. The large circle will be a master bedroom because I believe that to be the most important part to a house. While underneath that is a living room and behind that is a gym area.

FINAL PROTOTYPE

After working in CAD and extruding Richard Meiers concepts out and then put the floor plans into AutoDesk Revit and then put the walls, floors, structural columns, roofs, beams, and deck space in.

FINAL DESIGN

For my final design I kept it simple from my second prototype. I just added a couple windows and doors to put the finishing touches on it
