BRIDGE CONCEPTS

Bridges.png

First I needed some ideas to work with. So I recreated the Robert Moses Bridge, Truss bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge, Suspension bridge for a concept.

SIMPLE MACHINES

Next, I drew three different types of simple machines to come up with ideas to lift part of the bridge

GRID DESIGN

I created several sketches that worked with the bridge and machine designs

Prototype 1.png

PROTOTYPE 1

This was the first prototype I came up with. It changes the shape of the bridge and also uses the pulley mechanical system to lift part of the bridge

Prototype 2.png

PROTOTYPE 2

The second prototype I came up with is a cable stayed bridge that used a pully mechanical system to raise a piece of the bridge.

PROTOTYPE 3: FINAL DESIGN

This became the final design I came up with. It a variation of the first prototype with a new way to life the bridge itself and a way for the cars to actually move through them.

FINAL PROTOTYPE 3D

This was the final prototype I came up with. It's a variation of the first prototype, but adds on to it. The pulley system isn't the only thing that is being used here. I added gears that would work with the pulley and as the gears twist it will raise the pole and lift the road bed.
